Warren Energy is an anaerobic digestion plant located near Methwold, Norfolk. Future Biogas manage and operate the plant and this includes dispersing the Warren Energy annual community fund.

We were delighted to support a fantastic local initiative called The Food Pantry Feltwell which is a local charitable scheme providing food, clothing, and toiletries to families in the local community.

The scheme provides and delivers crisis packages free of charge to anyone in need. Alongside this, a membership scheme is available to make weekly shopping more affordable.

Fresh, frozen, cupboard foods and toiletries are sourced from the local community and business donations as well as fundraising initiatives. In addition, they run a membership scheme wherein households can pay a one-off membership fee of £3.50 to purchase goods at much lower prices. Any monies raised through the membership scheme or from the sale of pantry items are reinvested to replenish stock

The aim of the membership service is to help prevent people from hitting a crisis point and becoming reliant upon foodbanks.

When The Food Pantry Feltwell first opened it was envisaged to be a temporary foodbank but it became quickly apparent that there was a real need for the service. It is now staffed by local volunteers and, in December 2021 alone, they distributed 25 crises packages, 23 Christmas packages, and 47 children received Christmas gifts. Since opening in August 2021 they have been able to support 96 adults and 83 children with free crises food packages.

Warren Energy donated from its annual community fund to assist with replenishing stock, particularly over the winter period, and to assist with the purchase of items needed to run The Food Pantry including a new fridge, laptop, and printer.

‘We make no profit on this initiative, it just enables us to keep shelves stocked. Public donations continue to  be used for our free crises package only. We will continue to work hard, hidden poverty is a big factor in these small villages. We have regular people who are reliant weekly on our food packages, all referred to us from social services or such organisations. We will continue to support these families on a weekly basis with free crises packages.’

Heidi, Carla & Suzanne – The Food Pantry Feltwell

Warren Energy is proud to support such a cause within the local community and congratulate all those involved for their continued hard work and generosity.
