Supporting Rural Communities
Rural crop-fed biogas offers many benefits to local communities including the creation of rural jobs, and ongoing support for rural economies through the buying of feedstocks and agricultural operations.
Biogas plants provide diversification opportunities for farmers and often another revenue stream.

Each one of our plants creates up to 15 skilled and well-paid local jobs and supports dozens more in local engineering, service, agriculture and hospitality. In fact analysis and modelling from Guidehouse and the European Biogas Association suggest that up to 75 indirect jobs could be created per biogas plant.
We purchase millions of pounds worth of feedstock each year (from local farmers within a 15-mile radius of our sites). The revenue from this purchase flows into rural economies through farmers buying local.

Supporting communities
Local sponsorships
Future Biogas also set up a community fund associated with each site which contributes to local community projects such as solar panels for village halls, food banks, local sports team sponsorship or provisions for local community groups.
These projects seek to meet needs in the local areas. It’s just one of the ways we like to give back to the communities that we work within.
Case study

The Friends of Quarry Park have been active since 1996 and carry out a wide range of activities, including hedge cutting, path clearing, bulb planting, litter picking, and general upkeep. Alongside improving the park, the group offers opportunities for people to volunteer, learn new skills, and work together on practical challenges. Future Biogas has been proud to fund projects such as installing new park benches and tree planting, but also lend Ross and Sasha to help out with some pruning!
