Philipp Lukas
Philipp Lukas is the founder and CEO of Future Biogas – one of the largest producers of biomethane in the UK.

Philipp trained as a corporate lawyer but decided to throw it all in after he was pulled up for not wearing a tie on a phone call. He took the sign and in 2010 he founded Future Biogas with his Dad setting out with a simple mission: to prove that farming and renewable energy could work hand in hand. He has spent the last 15 years building one of the UK’s largest biomethane producers and a team of 180 passionate people developing, running, and reimagining biogas plants across the country.
As CEO, Philipp is a tireless advocate for biogas as a cornerstone of the energy transition and a partner to sustainable agriculture. He sits on the board of the European Biogas Association, co-chaired the EU Commission’s Biomethane Industrial Partnership, and is part of the UK’s REA Green Gas Steering Group.
When he’s not talking molecules, markets, or methanation, Philipp can usually be found….. actually no one knows…. We believe he sleeps? Maybe? Regardless – he’s still not wearing a tie!
