Suneel Appan
A childhood of international meandering was led by Suneel’s father and his pursuit of industrial gases development, collecting stints abroad in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Back in the UK at Loughborough University he completed an engineering degree.
Suneel joined British Sugar on an operations-related graduate scheme, transitioned into projects, and then took a leap into the world of procurement which led to a broader Associated British Foods role managing the group energy and utilities portfolio across Europe. This served as a brilliant eye-opener into the world of commodities, risk management, and CO2 emissions.
The desire to make something happen kicked in and after further a year exploring how to decarbonise a sugar factory and a year renovating a house (finished…mostly!), the ideal opportunity cropped up at Future Biogas which strikes the happy balance between utilising his decade of energy experience and uncovering new commercial opportunities (specifically in the Data Centre and Biogenic CO2 markets). Beyond biogas, Suneel prioritises his young family and uses this as an excuse to avoid the final 1% of the house renovation! Touch rugby is part of his routine and each of swimming, cycling, and running feature on the agenda from time-to-time so the next logical step is to book a triathlon and stitch them all together.
